Microsorum pteropus ‘Philippine Mini’ is a compact variant of the classic Java Fern.
It features smaller, narrower leaves, making it perfect for nano aquariums or midground/foreground placement in aquascapes.
Like other Java Ferns, it’s hardy, adaptable, and easy to maintain, ideal for both beginners and experienced aquascapers.

Do NOT bury the rhizome!
The horizontal rhizome will rot if buried in substrate.
Instead, attach it to hardscape — wood, stone, or ornaments — using:

Aquarium-safe glue
If placed on substrate, keep the rhizome above the surface and let roots grow down naturally.
Ideal placement: shaded or moderately lit areas with light water flow.

Perform regular water changes to prevent debris or algae buildup on leaves.
While not heavy feeders, Java Ferns benefit from occasional liquid fertilizer, especially if your tank has few fish or nutrients.
Trim old or damaged leaves to promote new growth.
Avoid intense lighting — transparent or spotty leaves can indicate too much light or nutrient imbalance.

Very easy to propagate:
Plantlets often form on older leaves — once roots appear, gently detach and attach them elsewhere.
Or, cut the rhizome into small sections (each with 2–3 leaves) and tie them down separately.
