Amano Shrimp (Caridina multidentata) are one of the most effective and popular algae-eating shrimp in the freshwater aquarium hobby. Larger and hardier than Neocaridina, they're prized for their voracious appetite for hair algae, soft green algae, and uneaten food — keeping your planted tank clean and balanced. A staple of Takashi Amano-style aquascapes, they're peaceful, active, and safe with most community fish.
Care Guide
- Tank size: 10 gallons or larger; group of 5+ recommended
- Water parameters: Temp 68–78°F, pH 6.5–7.5, GH 6–8, KH 2–6
- Diet: Omnivore — primarily algae and biofilm. Supplement with shrimp pellets, blanched vegetables, and high-quality flake food when algae is scarce
- Tankmates: Peaceful and best with small, non-aggressive fish (tetras, rasboras, corydoras, otocinclus). Avoid cichlids, large gouramis, and predatory species

🐠 Acclimation Guide
- Temperature Match:
Make sure the bag water is close to your tank temperature. - Float the Bag:
Place the sealed bag in your tank for 15–20 minutes. - Water Mixing:
Gradually add small amounts of tank water into the bag over 15–20 minutes. - Release:
Gently net the fish into the tank.
❗ Do not pour bag water into your tank to avoid contamination.
