    Care Guide for

    Anubias Var King / Varking

Although this is a rarer, fancy form of Anubias, its care is basically the same as standard Anubias — hardy and beginner-friendly:

    💡 Lighting

    • Thrives in low to moderate light.
    • Avoid very bright lighting — it can promote algae on leaves.

    🌡 Temperature & Water

    • Ideal water temperature: ~72–82 °F (22–28 °C).
    • pH range: ~6.0–7.5 (slightly acidic to neutral).
    • Tolerates a wide range of reasonably stable aquarium conditions.

    🪨 Placement

    • Do not bury the rhizome in substrate — this will cause rot.
    • Instead, attach to driftwood, rocks, or hardscape with thread, glue, or tie until roots take hold.

    💧 CO₂ & Fertilizers

    • Optional CO₂ can boost growth, but not required — Anubias are slow growers and don’t demand CO₂ supplementation.
    • Liquid micronutrient fertilizers can help if leaf color dulls over time.

    🌿 Growth & Propagation

    • Growth is slow compared to many aquarium plants — part of the appeal is low maintenance.
    • Propagate by rhizome division once the plant is established (cut rhizome with leaves on each side).
