Key remarks:
-
It thrives under stable water conditions. Sudden swings are less ideal. H2O Plants+1
-
Nutrient supplementation helps: although it doesn’t demand super high light or CO₂, liquid fertiliser or general good nutrient regime will make it healthier. MarcusFishTanks+1
3. Planting & Installation Tips
-
If you are using it on rock or driftwood: cut or tear the mat into smaller pieces, then attach with thread, fishing line or aquarium-safe glue until it adheres. Over time roots/holdfasts will secure it.
-
If placing on substrate: you can lay it flat as a mat; it will slowly spread outward. Some sources mention it even can be planted directly into substrate. Chichi's Planted Dreams
-
Choose an area with moderate water movement so detritus or film doesn’t accumulate on its fine leaves.
-
Because growth is slow, pick a design spot you’re happy with — once established, it will fill in gradually rather than rapidly altering the layout.
4. Maintenance & Care
-
Perform regular water changes to aid water quality — as with many mosses, clean water = better growth and less algae.
-
Periodically check for biofilm or algae on its fine leaves; if present, gently rinse or trim the affected area.
-
Because growth is slow, do not expect rapid coverage; patience is key. Many hobbyists note letting it “settle in one place” rather than frequently moving it. Planted Tank
-
For best appearance, ensure light is not too strong (to avoid algae) but sufficient for healthy green colour.
-
If you have a shrimp tank: this moss is excellent refuge for shrimplets and provides grazing surfaces.
