The Hikari Bacto-Surge Sponge Filter Mini is an air-driven sponge filter (air pump not included) that delivers superior mechanical and biological filtration for tanks up to 10 gallons — a favorite for nano tanks, shrimp tanks, and fry/breeding setups.

  • Highly porous sponge maximizes bacterial action and increases surface area for maximum beneficial bacteria colonization
  • Soft, easily cleaned sponge material made of long-lasting polyether foam
  • Uplift tube and air diffuser combination provides maximum lift and resists clogging
  • Gentle water flow that's safe for shrimp, fry, and baby fish
  • Versatile: also works as a polishing filter for canister filters, a hang-on filter, or on uplift tubes of undergravel filters

Usage tips:
Soak the sponge block in aquarium water for at least 5 minutes before installing. Always rinse with aquarium water (never tap or hot water) when cleaning. Replace the sponge block roughly every 6 months, letting new sponges soak for at least 2 weeks before install to colonize with nitrifying bacteria. Allow a minimum of 30 days for the filter to reach peak biological performance.

Note: Air pump is not included. Recommended for tanks up to 10 gallons.
