How live fishes are packed from us to you

Last week I have a complaint from a customer about how little water we use to pack our betta, put in his exact words: "3 table spoons of water". So I want to write this blog to explain how we pack our betta/guppy fishes:

The amount of water isn't import as long as the water stay clean and there is enough air. Here is how we do that:
- To prevent water getting foul, we won't feed the live fish to be shipped over 24-48 hours prior to shipping. If fish won't produce any waste, water can stay clean for a week or more
- Prepare water in advance: our water use for packing fishes are treated with conditioner, and oxynated for 48+ hours. This way we make sure water is clean and good for fish during shipping.

Fish Bags:

- We use long bag 4x12 to bag our fishes, each bag is fill with 70-120ml of water depend on fish sizes. We want the fish to have enough water to cover their entire body regardless bags position. More water mean less space for air, so doesn't mean more water is better.

- Each fishes are double bags, to make sure the bag is strong and doesn't leak water during shipping.

Shipping Boxes:

- We use 7x7x7 boxes to ship fish, we put styroam or greenfiber to make sure the fishes bag doesn't get shaking too much that could cause stress on fishes.

Labels:

- We have Live Fish Label on box, this help carrier to notice and handle the boxes better.

- Heat pack or ice pack are complimented when needed.
